A new era for Timbavati Nature Reserve

At the heart of South Africa’s Lowveld, a powerful transformation is underway — one rooted in nature, shaped by a proud legacy, and inspired by a bold vision for the future.

Timbavati Nature Reserve is proud to unveil a new visual identity and renewed mission that reflect not only who we are today, but who we aspire to be for future generations.

More Than a New Look: A Symbol of Our Purpose

Timbavati’s rebrand is more than a new look — it’s a bold expression of who we are. It reflects the values, purpose, and enduring promise that shape our place in the Greater Kruger landscape. At the heart of our new identity is our refined bushbuck — a subtle yet powerful symbol of the wilderness we are privileged to protect. The name “Timbavati,” meaning “the place where something sacred came down to earth,” was given by the original custodians of this land. Today, that sacred connection feels more relevant than ever.

Our new colour palette is drawn directly from the natural world around us: the sun-bleached gold of dry grasses, the muted green of river reeds, the textured grey of wild fig bark, and the deep blue of the night sky. These earthy tones ground our identity in the landscape, reminding us of what we stand for — and what we stand to lose without protection.

Our Mission: Where Conservation and Community Thrive Together

With our rebrand, we proudly reaffirm our commitment to a singular mission:
To protect, preserve, and promote biodiversity in the Greater Kruger landscape through sustainable conservation practices, meaningful community partnerships, and responsible tourism.

We believe in the vital connection between thriving ecosystems and empowered communities. Our conservation model is rooted in collaboration — with our member landowners, neighbours, ecotourism partners, and regional authorities. It’s about custodianship, not ownership. Protection, not exploitation. Education, not exclusion.

Our Four Core Values

Devoted to the wild

First and foremost – we prioritise the right of wildlife and ecosystems to thrive naturally by implementing low-impact practices that honour the delicate balance of nature. We are passionate and steadfast protectors of not only the region entrusted to our care, but of all wilderness spaces around the world.

We go first

Fearlessly pioneering new ideas, tactics and strategies – we lead the way in conservation efforts, wildlife security, and ecologically respectful tourism experiences by taking meaningful action. Our commitment to excellence, courage to innovate, and data-backed success makes us a premier global conservation-driven destination.

Led by understanding

Rooted in a deep understanding of our environment and the people within it, we approach conservation with empathy, respect and considered insight. Through diligent research and mindful deliberation, we take purposeful action guided by knowledge to establish harmony between nature and humanity.

Grounded in collaboration

As a shared experience, history and legacy – we embrace the power of cooperation and engage with our partners, stakeholders and communities to amplify our impact. With open hearts and minds, we share knowledge, resources, and support, fostering a culture of transparency, humility, and collective success which extends far beyond our fence-free borders.

Why Now?

The challenges facing conservation today are complex and evolving — from climate change and growing community needs, to poaching threats and increasing tourism pressures. As custodians of this land, we recognised that it is time to evolve — not just in how we look, but in how we communicate, collaborate, and lead.

This rebrand is our response: a new voice for a timeless mission.

A contemporary identity for a deeply rooted reserve.
