CONSERVATION LEVIES

Every visitor to Timbavati pays a conservation levy to help cover the significant and imperative costs of managing Timbavati as a world leading wilderness area.

The conservation levy is used entirely for funding the operational activities of Timbavati, especially the burgeoning security costs of protecting Timbavati’s valuable wildlife. Unlike national parks, Timbavati receives no state funding, and relies on its commercial lodges and visitors to contirbute to the funding of its extensive conservation and security operations.

Conservation Levies are collected by the lodges on behalf of the Timbavati, and your levies may, therefore, be included in the cost of your accommodation. Please check with the lodge or your travel agent.

10% of all Conservation Levy income is used for community development projects through the Timbavati Foundation.

Please find below the conservation levies applicable for the period 01 January 2026 – 31 December 2026:

Fully Catered Lodges: Adults (12 years and older): R 660.00 per person per night

Fully Catered Lodges: Children (under 12 years): R 330.00 per person per night

Self-Catering Camps: Adults and Children: R 255.00 per person per night

Self-Catering Camps: Day Visitors: 50% of the applicable conservation levy above"
